About me
Active Mountain Yoga offers yoga classes with Jennifer McCombs, a certified 200-hour yoga teacher based in Girdwood, Alaska.
Jennifer first discovered yoga in 2004 while attending college and quickly found it to be a grounding practice that supported her health, focus, and emotional well-being. Over the years, yoga became a source of strength through life’s challenges, including the tragic loss of her brother and her grandmother’s battle with cancer. Yoga helped her reconnect to her body, mind, and breath — and it continues to be a daily practice for balance and resilience.
In recent years, Jennifer’s practice has evolved, reminding her of the importance of adapting yoga to meet yourself where you are today. She brings that philosophy into every class, offering options for every body, every level, and every season of life.
Along with teaching yoga, Jennifer is also a professional artist and executive director of a local nonprofit, running multiple creative and community-focused businesses. She brings this same spirit of creativity, leadership, and connection into her yoga teaching.
Now living in the small mountain town of Girdwood, Jennifer shares a yoga practice that reflects the rhythms of mountain life. Her classes blend breathwork, strength, stretching, balance, recovery, and meditation, making them especially supportive for people with active lifestyles such as skiers, runners, and hikers at all levels.
Beyond teaching, Jennifer loves skiing, running, hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors with her husband, two sons, and their dogs. She believes yoga is for everyone, at every stage of life — and that it’s a powerful way to stay healthy, connect with nature and community, and enjoy being active in the mountains.
